We're not sure if this was a fluke or not but he seemed to pick the right ones and he did it 3 times before we shot this video. We'll see...
Did I mention he still won't say mama but he seems to know his colors. Hmmmm...

To Do List...does it ever end?
Well this weekend flew by with me realizing our house is falling down around us.
Friday, Daniel turned 17 months! I can't believe it. He's been so vocal lately and I love it. He's still very laid back and loves being outside. He's been into cheerios and puffs lately and is becoming picky with his food. He's doing so well with his shapes and puzzles, it's amazing that overnight I notice he can do so many new things. I love him to pieces.
Saturday, was a very busy day. It stared with a dentist appointment, food shopping and we finished it with going to a wedding. My friend Colette got married to a guy that she met while "clubbing" with me. We're talking 12+ years ago people. They finally became husband and wife. She looked great and we had a wonderful time at the reception.
Sunday, Daniel had speech therapy. I taught Daniel two new signs. "Help" and "Drink". You wouldn't believe how much he uses them now. He has started using the B sound as well, which is exciting. The therapist told me that she really feels once Daniel starts he will catch on quickly. I hope so!

Later on we had a real estate agent come to sign paperwork to put our house on the market. We started walking around the house and things started appearing "broken". Take a look at what was behind our drink table.
Our cedar siding is literally breaking away from our house.I called a few handymen and we'll get quotes for it this week. The agent won't put it on the market till it's fixed. To add to our list, one of our stair railings broke in half, our coat hook in the foyer broke off the wall and our third burner on our grill is not working. I think it might be a sign that this house does not want us to leave. We have a week to get things in gear!
Until then we are enjoying some moon watching, taking strolls and eating good guacamole (that Ryan just realized he likes)!

Another weekend update!
So, about our weekend...My in-laws were generous to share with us their time share at the Grand Geneva resort. It was awesome!! Honestly I think I enjoyed it more than the Dominican Republic. One reason was that it wasn't 120 degrees in the shade and two, we got to go wherever we wanted and people spoke English, always a plus.
We tried to keep Daniel occupied with various activities such as the pool, park and petting zoo. Daniel wasn't too crazy about the petting zoo at first but we went back and he was OK with the "ass" there the second time around. The second time we bought food and he was ready to repeat the duck incident again but I was quick this time and we only shared it with the animals.
He was mostly interested in the dog that laid on the grass doing nothing.
Not going to pet.
No animal contact. "Please don't touch me"
"I'm liking this fur ball"
Take 2 of the animal farm. Notice, much closer to the donkey. We enjoyed long walks on trails that were surrounded by huge homes owned by the rich and famous. I'm not sure who owns these monstrosities and how much it costs to up keep them but I would like to think these folks are famous. Walking around these homes made us realize that we both married into the wrong families.
Ryan made a comment saying "if we were to ever get divorced this is what you would end up with".
"And me with this". Gosh, he is smart!!!!
We ate like it was our last meal everyday and let me tell you, my behind, thighs and stomach are not happy with me. Oh well!
I also got burned when the weather on Monday hit 80. Let me set the scene; pasty white ME, a couple of drinks, FREE tanning oil, great service with delicious food, oh yeah a SLEEPING toddler in the stroller! All of that folks equals one burnt mama! It was so worth it.
On Tuesday we celebrated Ryan's 3X birthday. It was our last day there so we went out to breakfast in the morning at Egg Harbor where a wonderful waiter surprised Ry with a one of a kind cake.
Later we had dinner with my in laws at Popeyes (waterfront restaurant not the cheap chicken place).
It was nice to end the summer with a getaway. I do say end because I'm watching the news and they are showing temperatures in the 60s in August! Seriously....ridiculous. I feel cheated but who can I complain to about it?!

Promises, promises...
We had a great mini vacation in Lake Geneva this past weekend. I was going to impress you with numerous photos but when we got there I realized I left the battery to the camera at home charging, so...we had to buy another disposable camera. I'll pick those up "tomorrow". My mind is going to the pits lately. BUT have no fear...
A while back I mentioned going to the zoo and blueberry picking and that I was going to post pics about it. I'm posting a bunch of pics from these two trips. It took me 3 weeks to pick up these pictures.
First, we'll start with some zoo pics. Many of them turned out dark so you can't make out the animals in the background so I left those out.
Here are my two monkeys.
New dinosaur exhibition. Looks real, huh?
Our little fish
Fast asleep
Traditional family picture from 2009

I really should hide behind the lion!
Next we have the blueberry picking trip.
Cousins
Poor Lexi stuck doing this for about an hour and a half
Today we had our little student actually wanting to use his table. Typically I plop him in there and he wiggles and squirms. This table was my nephew's. It's cute to see it used again. I wonder what he's thinking...maybe the next famous painting.

Rain, Rain Go Away...Come back another day, Daniel wants to play
It's not easy being one and trapped inside on a rainy afternoon.
After Daniel confirmed it was raining from every possible window...
Little Hercules can slide open this door. Cute for a while and then it gets quite annoying.
Darn it, still raining!
We tried to find unique ways to play with old toys. First, we brought up his table that has been in the basement. You'd be surprised how much a kid thinks something collecting dust in the basement is now interesting again.
Next, I pulled out a plastic container and put some toys inside. I screwed on the top and we practiced sounds and sign language for "help". He almost had it, until he figured out how to unscrew it himself. Now do you understand why this child doesn't talk? He'll be damned if he has to ask for something. It kept him occupied for a good 10-15 minutes. That's like half a day to a toddler.
Finally, we moved on to throwing around a ball. You could say he was learning how well a ball bounced off of pretty much everything, including mommy's head.
All in all a pretty boring evening with mommy. You know your kid has had it with you when he signs for "milk" and "sleep" and hands you his Pajama Time book and plops down on the floor.
Have a good weekend!

Little Duck
NO IDEA what went wrong with the spacing.
This weekend was typical for the Marron Clan, BUSY. Saturday Daniel had speech and then we spent some time together as daddy went to see District 9. A man needs some time to himself and his aliens, especially when he brought me a beautiful bouquet of roses afterwards. I mean really, how good was this movie?!

Speech went well, Daniel is teething so his attention span wasn't all too great. One thing that the therapist noticed is that it takes a lot of effort for Daniel to make sounds. It seems like he doesn't know what to do with his breathing when he tries to speak. We'll be working on that with some whistle exercises. He is making many new noises and facial expressions including trying to blow bubbles. It may not sound like much but to me it's progress. He's also attempting to jump, it's really cute. He bends his knees and then tries to jump. I'll have to get it on video.
Here he is lovin his Elmo ride on. After speech I put Daniel's sandals on to go outside and noticed that his shoes were way too small on him! I have no idea when that happened. I dragged him to Target in hopes of getting a $3 pair of sandals for the rest of the summer, no cigar. I did find him some cute gym shoes. The thing is he has wide feet and these are not wide but if I have to spend $50 at Stride Rite vs. $14.99 at Target what's a little discomfort.
Reward for his suffering. Sunday, we went to Cosley zoo with my friend and her family. It is a small zoo that is FREE (which I love). The kids enjoyed themselves. Daniel had an incident with some duck food. My girlfriend's son handed him some food to feed the ducks and Daniel helped himself to some of it. It was so quick there was no time to take it away. After some digging in his mouth we recovered the pebbles. By this time he was very upset, thank God I had some cheerios to occupy him for a little while.
Out of all the animals he saw I would have to say the pigs were his favorite.
Here are some photos from our visit.
A fun day!
Right as we were leaving for our car it started to POUR. Our drive home was nerve wrecking. D slept all the way home and then slept another 2 hours at home. Maybe something in the duck food, I should invest in pounds of it. I took a well deserved nap as well. After that we went to Toys R us to get D some new toys. We bought stacking cups and a shake and go car. This car is a batman mobile that you shake and then put on the ground to go. NEAT!
