weekend

Friday, I took off of work and took D to the zoo with my friend and her kids. It was a rough start to our day. Let's just say that we were 2 exhausted mama's at the end of the 4 hour trip.
He wasn't crazy about the sound coming out of this bug.
Our 3 little terrors.
IT WAS HOT inside the dolphin show.
The cool down was worth the sanity
That's a real penguin behind him.
In the evening I went out with my friends, a well deserved adult conversation after the day I had. D stayed home with daddy and went on an ice cream trip. Saturday after eye Dr. appts we went to our city's block party. Everything we needed for Daniel to have fun was FREE. He had a blast. Summers get so expensive with keeping kids entertained so we appreciated our tax $$$ being used to keep our outings cheaper.
Doesn't he look like the Jerry McGuire kid? HA! The Dr. is seeing signs of nearsightedness already (he's doomed because mommy and daddy are both blind). We are trying to take preventative measures and so Daniel will wear temporary glasses for 3 months 4 hours a day and we'll see if that will stall his progression to need real glasses.
Sunday, we went to church and then blasted out for a couple of hours to Pirate's Cove. It was warm. I stayed in the cooling zone a while and was done after about an hour. My belly has grown but my patience hasn't.
That was our weekend! Both Ry and I have realized we need to look at cribs but considering the kitchen remodel hasn't started I think we are OK. The thought of going through bins and bins of stuff in the basement makes me excited but also overwhelmed. I figure we'll take it in steps, first identify the bins, leave them sitting there for 3-4 weeks and then actually open them. :)

Our longer weekend

We woke up Friday morning to terrible news. The Aurora, CO shooting. We were glued to the TV until we had to carry on with our daily plan and ultimately our life. We felt blessed to be safe and be able to hold each other.
A week ago Ry and I decided we needed a day together, just us, to unwind, talk and just enjoy the day without having to say "no, you can't do that, stop that, hold my hand, don't talk back...".
Ry dropped off D as I got a few extra minutes of rest news time. We headed out to breakfast to a cute little restaurant downtown of our little village. We love our downtown area. It's quaint but it does have the feel of the normal hustle and bustle of a big city. We enjoyed breakfast, chatted, talked about baby names. Since there was no WIFI available in the restaurant we went to Caribou for some caffeine, decaf for me. We sat like an old couple surfing our iPad. We decided to purchase tickets to see Batman, and we planned our day around that. I was a little nervous going to a theater but my hubby talked me into it.
The next place on our agenda was the beach. The unsuccessful trip a couple weeks back had me longing to try again. The weather was perfect Friday. We arrived at the beach to see another "No Swimming" warning sign. We were OK with that since we didn't bother to even wear swimsuits because the weather was perfect we knew there would be no need to cool off.
We relaxed, took a little walk and talked about how we would bring D there in the next couple of weeks. It was mostly guilt talking since we saw so many little ones running around.
24 weeks!
We got to the theater and loaded up on junk food (Ry and I paid for that by feeling like whales all day). The movie was really good but I will admit the second one was better.
We picked up D from school, he loves it when we both pick him up, he just smiles and giggles in the car. It is too precious. We made a stop at Costco to score their 18'' pizza for $9.98!
We had to take D to the park in the evening so our guilt would go away for not taking him anywhere.
Saturday, we had a great day celebrating Grandpa's 65th bday!
Grandpa and D blew out the candle together.
We met at Portillo's for burgers, hot dogs and sandwiches. D performed some Polish songs, sang happy birthday for his grandpa and then we headed out to their pool.
It was a good day.
Guess who loves cake?
Daniel is turning into quite the photographer. He took this picture.
and this one
Sunday, I had a headache all day long. We did manage to run a couple of errands, go to the library, watch Alvin and the Chipmunks Chipwrecked, go to the park and end our day playing together. It was a good weekend.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost their loved ones in the CO shooting. It is so sad to think a person with so much potential in life wanted to destroy other lives. I keep thinking about his parents and the horrible nightmare they are going through right now. I hope the media doesn't start blaming the parents somehow. They need our prayers as well.

Almost Famous

A little lunch trip to the comic book store lands my hubby on Fox News  click this link to view the full video. He's about 2 minutes and 10 seconds into it.
He told me I should feel lucky to sleep next to a SUPERSTAR. This is after he commented that the camera adds 20lbs and asked me if his mouth moved like that in real life. Oh so proud.

Weekend recap

I've been in a heat slump since Friday. I'm worn out, tired, hot and just want to lay around all day. Friday, I decided to take a half day off and visit a friend of mine, Sara. She had her baby 2 months ago, he is so stinkin cute, smells sweet and was a good little boy during my entire visit. I'm so ready for a little one at home.
After my visit I ran errands before picking up D from summer school.
Saturday, we dropped D off at my mom's and went to look at our final choices of granite. Of course there was a slab there that we both loved which I didn't see before. It was on hold and now on back order for any more. Additional slabs are in Brazil! We met a nice man that works with our fabricator and he told us since the work hasn't even begun to wait and come back because slabs continuously come in. No problemo. We looked at tile and agreed on the overall look. We had lunch at my mom's and then went to Party Time Palace with D to get him worn out so he would take a nap. He was exhausted and we were very happy. So happy we all took naps. Sunday, we went to church. I promised D if he was good I would take him to the pool. I had to keep my promise. Ry stayed home as he had stomach issues from overindulging on snacks.    :( D and I had a blast. Unfortunately, I couldn't take pictures because I couldn't take my eyes off of him. Both D and I collapsed when we got home while watching the Goonies.
D woke up in a crabby mood, it took an hour for him to eat dinner and then we high tailed it to get ice cream. Within 5 minutes of the sugar hitting his system he was a different kid. A trip to the park was needed to burn off that sugar and to get him tired again. A trip to the park at 7:45pm is quite nice, much cooler and everyone's patience is better. So, that was our weekend. Lots of little things going on. I'm not ready for this week. I'm looking forward to having this Friday off!

Summer nights

Our evenings during the summer have the same theme; parks, driveway fun, bikes, scooters, backyard, ice cream, repeat.
Thursday nights are a little more special as I started a little date night tradition with D. It really is a trip to the park but on Thursdays our park has cover bands playing and the atmosphere is just more grand. With tons of people hanging out while music fills the air it just makes it more special.
Belly at 23 weeks.
I'm sure you can make out the entire alphabet, he did it himself
