It's just impossible!

Tonight we headed out to the baseball field at a nearby park to try to capture a perfect picture of D holding a bat and a baseball so I can enlarge it and hang it in his room. Our first attempt to get him out of the stroller to pose on the diamond failed as we heard "No baseball, PARK!". We figured after a trip to the park he would pose and so we walked over the 20 feet to the park where D enjoyed walking over "idges" (bridges) over and over again.
We got him all excited for baseball even though we kept hearing "no baseball mama, dada". After Ry hit some balls we knew he would try to do the same, he approached the ball and this was as close to the perfect picture as we got....
because here is what he did the entire time
and more of this

We had fun trying but when he asked for his "paci" we knew it was over. We headed home for a quick wash and some reading of goodnight moon.
Something tells me we will be trying this again.

It's Up!

After sitting in the living room for a couple of months now the monster 58 inch TV is up! Now, we just have to bring in all the crap that is in the garage!
And here is D checking his temperature.
Have a good weekend everyone!

Big Boy!

D got a new haircut! A big boy one! I styled it just like daddy's. We went to Kid Snips, where a personal TV in front of D was playing Barney (I picked it out) and toys surrounded him. After being such a good boy we got him a new car and a blue balloon to match. This was heaven compared to the last haircut he got at a local hair place, where he screamed his head off in daddy's lap. This time he didn't sit in the car (until the haircut was over), he sat in my lap but was such a good boy.
After that we went to Whole Foods where we finally found some California Baby Citronella lotion. I have been looking for this the entire summer. This poor child gets bit like crazy. Hopefully, this will help things. He hates being sprayed with any bug spray.
Happy Monday everyone!

Vroom Vroom

Most evenings after dinner if it's rainy or hot we retreat to D's playroom.
Recently I bought 2 new pictures that complete the art work on the walls. It fits him perfectly.
D is in love with cars, his vocabulary is pretty much words that include "CAR" in it. HA!
He loves playing with them on his road rug, he lines them up and talks to himself as he maneuvers them around.
His collection of matchbox cars is quite impressive. You can buy him a matchbox car for $.99 and he will be your best friend. He is in 7th heaven with his cars, it's the only thing that keeps this child good in church.
This is his favorite position to play with his cars. He needs to see them just right.
He owns numerous t-shirts that express his love for things with wheels.
Automobiles are a serious thing for him. (Notice that red ear again?! yeah another Dr. visit today, they claim it's fine, I'm not too convinced. Maybe waiting for over an hour to see a Dr. that handed me a sample of stronger hydrocortisone didn't make me feel too good.)

But don't worry when he's had enough there is some healthy digging in his closet. (I keep it closed and change his toys around every couple of weeks but he knows the treasures in there).
He pulls out toys he hasn't used since he was 8 months old! Tonight it was this thing, whatever it's called.
He presses the button to hear a melody that tells him he did it right. He hums to it too.
And then I hum to him as I give him millions of kisses and we say "Goodnight".

Catchy title?

I'm kinda getting tired of the title of all our weekends being 'Weekend Recap' but I honestly could not come up with anything better for this weekend because it was just boring. On Friday D woke up with croup but I think it's allergies because he sounded better Sunday but was constantly sneezing and his nose was running.
No projects were done, except for some weeds that I pulled while D was napping, no exciting trips, except to church where D was not on his best behavior but looked too cute in his shirt.
Dinner at my parents house was about the only thing exciting that happened to us, maybe that's because it involved food.

Here is D in all of his cute glory.
Ready to say Amen!
Gotta take the truck to church
Sneaking in some play time
If I haven't written enough about this I need to just clarify...D is just talking so much. He's putting phrases together and I could not be happier! He has really turned the corner. Now to get him off of all the hot dogs that he requests for lunch. He always asks for "ten hot dogs". Yeah like that will ever happen.

Rock out, big ear rock star!

We had a busy weekend! Friday, Ry and I enjoyed a date night together and saw Inception while D had his first sleep over at my mom's house. It was way over due.

The $40 it took to buy our tickets and a small snack was well worth it. We both loved the movie. You have to pay close attention but it was deep, wayyyy deep.

Right before we left to the movies D was outside for literally 5 minutes before we noticed he was getting bit my bugs. I noticed he got bit on his ear but it looked a little pink and was not that big of a deal. The next morning my mom calls me telling me his ear is huge and swollen. With a dose of benadryl and some hydrocortisone I figured the swelling would go down. D's plans for the day was to go to a concert with Papa and Gama and enjoy some Ralph's World music. They also enjoyed the gardens and a little bit of water. OK, lots of waterLook at that poor ear? He looked like Curious GeorgeNotice his left ear a little big?Lots and lots of waterBy the time "ciocia (cho cha) Kaka" (my sister Kathy) came over to see D she looked at us and said "I think you need to take him in". Ry was putting D's bookcase together that we got that day at IKEA. Seriously, about IKEA, great store but you would think they were giving stuff away for free the way people load their findings on the cart. I digress... my niece went with me to urgent care and the Dr. agreed that it looked infected and some medicine was required. Loaded with antibiotics we came home to relax.

After a family visit to our new church on Sunday we dropped D off at my sister's and went to our local Abt store to look at some shelves for our equipment in the family room. After we spoke with a nerdy speaker salesman Ryan was sold on the a surround sound, a universal remote, a sub woofer (sp?), and no shelves. It would all be wireless. His eyes sparkled as he pictured himself sitting on his leather couch as the hair on his arms and legs stood up straight from the sound that was coming out of the $800 speakers. My head was spinning, thank goodness they offer free baked chocolate chip cookies on the weekend. With chocolate in our bellies and not one dollar spent we returned home to contemplate our plan for the plasma and the surround sound. We'll let you know what we decided but let's say there may be wires hanging from our ceiling with no speakers attached for a little longer.

"Ice Deammm"

Tonight, on a sauna hot Tuesday we ventured out for some summer fun in the evening, we went to my high school hang out, the local Dairy Queen.
We pulled up to a sign that said "Dairy Queen has moved 3 blocks South". Not the same thing as the old hang out but hey, we needed a new hang out anyway.
I had the Hawaiian blizzard and Ry had the Butterfinger blizzard. D had the combination put into his own mini blizzard cup. We knew not to buy him his own. He's not into sweets even though he yelled "Ice Deammmm" all the way there. It helped that the DQ was right on a busy street and we sat outside so D could enjoy the traffic and sweat goodness.
We also went there on a night when there was "MAGIC"
Although Frank himself had a sense of humor that wasn't making the crowd laugh, he did put a smile on my peanut's face when he made him an Elmo balloon (after I answered "no" when he suggested he could make him a weapon balloon).
D waited patiently (considering the sugar high was settling in from the ice cream) as the man twisted eagerly and mumbled something under his breath.
D said "Thank You" to Frank and loved on his mama and dada for showing him a good time on a Tuesday night.
In other news, I hung up the letters and some vintage art in D's bedroom and playroom. I think it turned out OK.
Hope you all are having a good week.
