Baptism

It was a beautiful day, a perfect 70 degrees and sunny. It was like the clouds parted and God handed us a perfect day for our little angel.
I only went through some pictures, I have like 5 cameras to look through but I thought this was good enough for a post.

When we got home, I asked for one more picture with this handsome guy, who was soooo good all day!

Left overs

This week is crazy busy for me, with preparations for Michael's baptism my picture taking and memory focusing has been pretty bad. To top that Michael has a bad cold and I'm running on about 3 hours of sleep a night.
But I just downloaded these pics from my mom's camera and thought they were super cute.

Check out mommy's glasses and a big cup of water in Daniel's basket.

Sunday miracle

This Sunday we made it to church.
I got dressed and put makeup on.
The baby was dressed cute.
Daniel looked spiffy as did Ryan.
Everyone behaved in church.
Two little older ladies that sat behind us made comments such as:
"God bless you", "What angels", "Now, that's a man's name (referring to Michael's name)", "What a nice looking family", "What well behaved children".
The priest even came up to us because guess what? we got their with time to spare!
If only they saw us on any other Sunday. It probably helped that we went to a later mass than normal and there weren't a hundred kids competing with noise levels. Oh it was just perfect, we were just a family in church that looked so put together and I was taking all the credit.
until...
we got home and I saw that Daniel had his shoes on the wrong feet. At least they matched.
Today I have proclaimed a day of getting back into the swing of things for ME:
I'm planning a walk by myself.
I have my pedicure stuff out.
I have my bleach trays and floss for my teeth all ready to go.
I have pumped milk in the fridge for daddy to take care of things.
Now, I have a screaming baby telling me it's milk time. Small steps.

A hot mess of thoughts and happenings

Thank you for all the compliments on the kitchen. We still love it.
I made our first dinner Monday, spaghetti. I felt like I was on a cooking show, using ingredients that before were hidden in the back of our disgusting pantry. Now all my spices are in a cool spice drawer and I got all crazy and used spices that probably shouldn't have been used in spaghetti. Daniel has been running around the island like a nut. We are back to having dinner at a table and not on TV trays. Getting information out of Daniel about his days at school during dinner..., well that hasn't changed. He is tight lipped, a new kitchen didn't change that.
I think all that cooking has been making my heartburn worse though so I need to chill with the spices. Just sayin'.

The last 3 mornings I have set my alarm clock so I can get a walk in before everyone wakes up. I have listenend to that alarm clock twice and once I pounded it and covered my head with a blanket. I love morning walks. The air is crisp, it's just me and the sound of my shoes hitting the pavement, my belly leads the way. That last five minutes is tough, I may look like a lady going into labor because I start to make faces and rub my round belly and slow my pace but I feel great afterwards. I'm less tired all day, I love walking into the house when D is ready for breakfast and Ry is getting ready and my day officially begins. It's too bad I didn't make this routine when the freaking sun wasn't rising at 6:45am.

In other earth shattering news, D started his AM preschool today. This is our church preschool. He is super excited to go back. I think the hot, blond teacher may have something to do with it.
He will go there 3 times a week for 3 hours. 3 times a week for 3 hours with a 2 hour break before he goes to his PM preschool. He gets speech at his PM school. The speech therapist emailed me and said he has made such a huge improvement over the summer so he's off to a good start. I'm sure if she heard his smart mouth talking back to me she would have him in honors speech.

My calendar is filling up. Yesterday I spent most of my evening filling out paperwork for 2 schools and adding 'important dates' to the calendar. I have 3 calendars. Our calendar on the fridge (I gave up and attached that sucker to our stainless steal fridge and ruined the seamless look I posted the other day. I'm a mom and it just works), then my Outlook calendar and then my hardcover purse calendar. You should see my confusion when one calendar doesn't match the other two, it's a disaster. I need to find a way to consolidate better but I refuse to be squinting at my phone calendar. I haven't made that leap yet.
Where was I? My brain is just a mess today.
Ok, I think this post is long enough.

weekend

Friday, I took off of work and took D to the zoo with my friend and her kids. It was a rough start to our day. Let's just say that we were 2 exhausted mama's at the end of the 4 hour trip.
He wasn't crazy about the sound coming out of this bug.
Our 3 little terrors.
IT WAS HOT inside the dolphin show.
The cool down was worth the sanity
That's a real penguin behind him.
In the evening I went out with my friends, a well deserved adult conversation after the day I had. D stayed home with daddy and went on an ice cream trip. Saturday after eye Dr. appts we went to our city's block party. Everything we needed for Daniel to have fun was FREE. He had a blast. Summers get so expensive with keeping kids entertained so we appreciated our tax $$$ being used to keep our outings cheaper.
Doesn't he look like the Jerry McGuire kid? HA! The Dr. is seeing signs of nearsightedness already (he's doomed because mommy and daddy are both blind). We are trying to take preventative measures and so Daniel will wear temporary glasses for 3 months 4 hours a day and we'll see if that will stall his progression to need real glasses.
Sunday, we went to church and then blasted out for a couple of hours to Pirate's Cove. It was warm. I stayed in the cooling zone a while and was done after about an hour. My belly has grown but my patience hasn't.
That was our weekend! Both Ry and I have realized we need to look at cribs but considering the kitchen remodel hasn't started I think we are OK. The thought of going through bins and bins of stuff in the basement makes me excited but also overwhelmed. I figure we'll take it in steps, first identify the bins, leave them sitting there for 3-4 weeks and then actually open them. :)
