After another meeting with another contractor we decided to get out of the house and check out a local gymnastics center. We have picked up on Daniel's ability to balance well, his great upper body strenght and well....a lack of interest for all other sports has left us with swimming and gymnastics as options for extra curricular activities. :)
He loved it. I haven't seen him go this nuts ever.
He was all over the place, trying everything. Summer sessions start in a week so we have to make a decision. I think the visit helped us with that dilemma very quickly. I didn't know the place would be so darn hot hence his red face and sweaty hair.
He loved running down the long path (not sure the real term) and falling into this... |
Refused help from daddy on the balance beam |
The past 2 weeks every morning we have been woken up by the same question "Is today Sarurday?", when we respond with "not yet" we know we are safe for another day. But Saturday morning we couldn't lie and once the answer to his question was yes for the next hour all we heard was "the pool is open". Have you tried to explain to a kid that it's not this Saturday that outdoor pools open but NEXT Saturday? Yeah, it's like talking to a wall.
We stalled him with taking him outside and letting him watch daddy power wash, help me plant some veggies, help daddy spread fertilizer and then we couldn't avoid it anymore.
We went to an indoor water park
He had a total blast. This child is FEARLESS! We couldn't keep up. Ry kept watch on top of the tower while I tried to see which slide he would choose to go down and then race to get there before he went down. About an hour and a half into our exhausting adventure we heard whistles blowing all over the place. We were told to "Get out". I just thought it was break time. Ry made a comment "someone sh#$ in the pool". We laughed it off and went to sit and wait. Of course 15 minutes into waiting and watching the teenage life guards pour some toxic chemicals into the pool, I asked and was told that yes indeed, someone pooped in the pool. Daniel demanded to wait, which is very unlike him since he thinks that everything "takes a long time mommy". We bribed him with Chick Fil A and the playground there and told him we would come back. White lie!
After a nutrious dinner I may have told D I called the pool and they told me it was still closed for cleaning. No sense in explaining it was 4:30 and the pool closes in 30 minutes.
I dropped the boys off and headed to church. I know when D has had enough with no nap and no amount of bribing will keep him still in a pew. I enjoyed an hour of solitude.
Sunday was our "walk". The annual "Running for Hope" in honour of our brave little Leo. We raised over $2500!!!!! YEAH!! AND my mother in law won a Coach purse in a raffle. There were rumors flying around that maybe I should keep it and never say a word or perhaps wait till X-Mas. Gosh these people don't know me. ;) We gave the purse to her the same day and she was thrilled.
Next year we are determined to raise more $$$ and start thinking about raffle tickets way in advance.
Leo's mommy and daddy
After our walk we went to the Kane County Flee Market. I don't know where we got the energy from but I was feeling great and Ry was inspired to find a "diamond in the rough". Whatever that means! We only purchased a magnifying glass to help find bugs in the back yard with D and had some pizza. The cost of the pizza and entry was more than what we paid for in our purchases but it was fun.
No long day would be complete without ice cream for D and a mini cinnabon from Burger King (how convenient) for me.
We are currently relaxing and complaining of soreness while D runs around like a nut, energy from sitting on his butt in the stroller the entire day.
Life of a kid...
