Weeknd Recap

It's mid June and this weather is just the way it should be in April!
Saturday, after running errands and taking a snooze we relaxed and watch Finding Nemo. D has never seen it and he liked it, although it was with commercials and 2.5 hours is a long time for a kid to last. He took breaks and played with cars.
My kid is the biggest snuggler EVER and he would wrap his arm around my neck and give me a spontaneous kiss and then say "aaawww mommy".
We are looking forward to taking him to see CARS 2, perhaps with some ear plugs.

I like to make Sunday breakfasts a little bit more special. I saw this idea on another blog and thought it was super cute to make your kid try new things. I started out simple but plan to do more colorful veggies soon. I'm hoping easing him into it will help. When I presented him with it, he said "wow mommy". SCORE!
Later we had some guests come over. Our friends that have two kids. Josh, who is an energetic 7 year old and Jessica, a true girly girl who is 4. They all have such a great time together. The fact that they all had a donut each may have helped the loudness of the screeching that proceeded in our house and back yard. I had the camera out and forgot to take pics.
We were sitting on our patio and we heard Jessica and D playing "house", Jessica kept saying "bye honey, c ya soon" as Daniel was getting into his car and saying "I go to work, C ya soon" and proceeded to throw her kisses. It was to die for!!! Later D took a nap with daddy and I went to visit my mom and scored some soup to bring home.
D's drive through. I do not dress my husband in white socks and flip flops. That's all him. He's all about comfort over fashion :)
The weather was super nice this evening so we took a stroll on our street.
We visited a construction site. We will have new neighbors soon, they are building right across from my sister.
We enjoyed as Daniel pretended to go to the store food shopping and bring us watermelon and all sorts of fruit, anything to delay going back inside.
Obsession continues with cars although when asked "what do you want to be when you grow up?" he assures me that "doctor" is in his future and not a race car driver. I can breathe for a few more years.
Monday is only a few hours away and I must get my beauty sleep.
I'm going to Zumba tomorrow with my sister. I took my first class on Thursday and I'm just getting over my soreness now but it was great. It's a huge stress reliever and my sister and I are doing something together, which is awesome. My mom went with my sister a week ago and said she had a good laugh, as in, she stood against the wall when she couldn't do it anymore and just laughed her butt off. That's my mom making lemonade out of lemons. She's like that...love that about her.
Or maybe it's all women that age that just know you have to laugh at certain insecurities and not stress over it. Maybe 30 years from now I can inherit that trait, genetics or age, I'll take it either way.

final touches

My friend finished embroidering D's bathroom towels to match the curtain. They turned out super cute. At least I think so.
We also got rid of D's cheep bookcase he had in his room and upgraded it to this one. It's from pottery barn kids. All of his books fit on it, it's amazing how many fit in there.
He loves looking at them and picking out the ones he wants us to read at night.

I can't believe it's over

the weekend is over and we were quite busy. What else is new?!
Friday night I spent with a couple of nice ladies at our house redesigning the website of the daycare Daniel goes to. It needs some sprucing up and since I am on the parents council, I offered our home, a few glasses of wine, some treats and wireless service to help us out. Two and a half hours later we had a mockup. Great things happen when a few women get together over some wine and chocolate.
Saturday, we were running around like crazy. A trip to home depot was necessary so we can stand a chance on the war we have going on with ants in our back yard. Ryan needs an armor with the way his face scrunches and the potty words that come out of his mouth when he sprays the entire bottle of ant killer on those #$#uckers! We picked up some mulch too. They have a drive thru service now. How cool is that?!
With our mulch bags, ant killer, flying insect killer, anti mosquito candle we were set. D enjoyed a ride on the cart as well. I would show you but my phone refuses to send the picture to my account.
Later on we had a graduation party for 3 teenagers. I got ready to take an adorable picture of D playing with his relatives (that he never met) and when it didn't take I knew I forgot the memory card at home. Boy was I ticked. I need to carry a spare one with me because this is not the first time it happened.
Sunday, we had our annual Run for Hope for our sweet baby Leo. He's with Jesus now but I know he was there...the third year in a row it sprinkled for about 3 minutes and then stopped. I think it's him sending us a little sign to move our butts. This third year our group has grown to 50+ people!!! The first year there was a dozen of us. It was great to see everyone there.

D took a snooze in the car so we were pretty much set that he wouldn't take a nap for us. We slaved in our back yard today washing his house, water table, car and cleaning things up. We trimmed bushes, pulled weeds, and he just rode around having fun. I love being outside. I love outdoor chores, it's weird but the physical labor that I don't get during the week is so darn rewarding. I think I was meant to work on a construction site and not behind a desk. Seriously!

We rewarded ourselves with some Thai food, although Mr. D without a nap had us slamming food in our mouths as quickly as possible to get out.

Back to reality and a crazy week for me!

Weekend

I haven't had much to post lately but this weekend we made up for some boring, rainy days.
We had rain Saturday and Sunday, but after church and a nap on Sunday we decided that was it, we were going to get the heck out of the house and do something. We ended up in our old neighborhood, they opened up a play place for kids. It was tons of fun.
Monday, the sun finally came out and so did the 90 degree weather. It was GREAT!! We talked about going downtown for a while with D and we decided today was the perfect day.
As the streets by our home lined up for a Memorial Day parade we got on the train. D enjoyed the ride, occasionally saying "it's OK mommy", that's his famous line when he's really trying to say "you better have my back when this thing gets off tracks". He's like that, cautious, always needs a little push. I know just how much I can push before respecting his wishes, because I don't want him to grow up giving in to kids trying to make him do something he doesn't want to do. Yes, I go deep sometimes, I think about what I say now and how it may impact him later. I hope he has a strong personality to say NO, like he does to us all the time.

We arrived downtown. We went in line to the Sears (Willis, whatever) tower ready to go UP, until we found out it was a 2 hour wait. So, we decided showing D some of the other cultural things in the city was just as good.
My college.
Fine arts
Architecture
First stop was lunch.
These butter burgers were INSANELY good!
We headed over to get cooled off by the "fountain".
After the first outfit change we made our way to the bean
We needed to cool off with some ice cream. We are rookie parents and God only knows why I bought him his own cone. CHOCOLATE too!
We put our blanket down and it started great,

until....
That picture is priceless. Praying that chocolate comes off the blanket and his new shirt from grandma. If not, I'll treasure that picture even more. We went back to the fountain to wash him off. I made sure to say "chocolate ice cream" loud because it could have been confused with something much more gross.
It was a good day, full of new memories and maybe even our new tradition.
Outfit change number 3 brought much needed zzzzz's for this little guy.
That's the only nap he took before he spent another 2 hours in the back yard horsing around as Ry and I cleaned/repaired our grill. We're ready for our first bbq.

and then he was a big boy

Today, I cried, not because my allergies have been kicking my butt all day long and my face is swollen from blowing my nose. I cried as we laid my peanut to bed in his big boy bed.
He was super excited to see us put it together. There was a lot of jumping before the sheets went on. He kept saying "my big boy bed almost ready". After it was done we went for ice cream to celebrate.
Later, we went through our nightly routine and then he laid down, counted his cars and didn't make a sound. (hope I don't jinx that). He was ready. I wasn't, but that's how it goes.
goodnight stars, goodnight air

goodnight noises everywhere.
