In a blink

It seems like over night our Daniel is turning into a big boy. The things he says, make us look at each other and smile and tear up.
The other night he sang the entire Twinkle, Twinkle little star song, says "that's amazing mommy" when he's impressed with something, asked me "whatcha ya got there mommy?" when he saw something in my hand and didn't know what it was.
Some things are subtle and some things just take us by surprise. I have delayed switching D into a big boy bed for quite some time but have recently realized that I need to cut the cord. Also, the fact that lifting 40lbs of pure love is killer on our backs.
We purchased a mattress for D and we will be putting his full size big boy bed together sometime this week. (Sniff).
To prepare myself for the transition I needed to tackle the one other thing that made him a baby. His changing table. I still use it but mostly we get him dressed in his bathroom or our bedroom. I saw this neat frame project on another blog and had to do it.
I used an old mirror. I took the mirror out. Spray painted the frame. Distressed it a little bit. Installed chicken wire and hung up some pictures using small clothes pins.
The whole thing cost me $6.
No more changing table.
I ordered a book shelf for him as well.

I'm ready, I really am. I will tear up and take a bunch of pictures of him in his new bed and that will make me feel better.

Son of a #$#$% and figures

I had drafted a blog post for the rest of our trip and Blogger went down and deleted my saved draft. UGHGGGGGHGH!!!
So, instead of retyping the fantastic detail that I had I'll just plop the photos and call it done.
We went to a water park on Tuesday and enjoyed splashing and the heat. Chasing D made us feel old and out of shape, therefore, no full body shots are available at this time. :)

Wednesday we went to a magical place. Magic Kingdom. D did great! He just recently talked about the characters and Pirates.
We walked around the entire park and enjoyed many rides. I had the map and each ride listed with the photos but again blogger decided to ruin my memories.
"It's a small world"
Dowidzenia is Goodbye in Polish.
When D fell asleep, grandma and I had some modeling to do.
After all of that we almost forgot to get a photo that we most love. Hence, the drowned rat look and Daniel's mismatched attire, because he had an accident.
Of course we stayed for the electrical parade and fireworks. D enjoyed the parade but wasn't a fan of the loud fireworks.
Grandpa's favorite
According to him "she's got nice legs"
It was a long day but so memorable and we are definitely going back!
Thursday and Friday were a blur. Trips to the largest McDonald and miniature golfing with his grandma and grandpa so mommy and daddy could relax at the pool and go out to dinner and
a repeat trip to the McDonald's. We threw in some souvenir shopping. Before we knew it, it was time to go home.
Pardon any grammar errors, Blogger made me do it.
Have a wonderful weekend!

P.S. Of course after I typed it all up my other post came up. Here is what I had to say:

We headed out to the water park after breakfast. D had a blast. We took a bunch of pictures so I'll them summarize our great time.
Day 4, Wednesday was the big day, Magic Kingdom. We got magic, lots of it.

We took a ferry to the kingdom, it was hot but some ice water from the freezer helped.
To give you a visual of our tour, below is a map of the park.

We started at Liberty Square, with a presidents show. D made it to Lincoln before he started to squirm and him and I left. We shopped for a little while before my in laws and Ry emerged looking educated. They went to the Haunted house and D and I walked around before we spotted Fantasy land and the "it's a small world" ride. The wait showed 25 minutes so I figured Ry would be out in time. Thank goodness for cell phones because as we zoomed quickly through the line I talked Ry into walking past 300 people to get to us on in the nick of time. It's a really cute ride, with a good old fashion lesson at the end of the ride, all the creepy little dolls singing together in harmony. And the song, forever in my head till I die. D did great and loved the slow paced ride in a boat.
Just as we walked out and headed over to Peter Pan's ride, it was closed. No explanation, just closed.

We went to see Mickey's PhilharMagic show. It was a 3D show and super cute. D was trying to grab Donald and objects flying at him. He thought he was flying on a magic carpet. He kept his glasses on the entire time, I believe a pair made it back to our hotel. Snow White's Scary Adventure was next, I wasn't impressed. Actually, I was nautious from all the turns. They really need to update that. I heard they are in the new section of Fantasy Land.
The ride was just kinda boring, with some lights and pictures. Not a big deal.

I guess it wasn't as much as I thought! :)

Florida trip Day 1 and 2

So, about our trip.
Our flight to FL was at 6:30pm on Saturday, giving me enough time to go to Home Depot and buy some grass seeds for our ruined grass by the street.
We don't have sidewalks on our street (we're incorporated but back 50+ years ago all the people that built on this street did not want sidewalks). I love it actually. The street is quiet and it makes our 1/2 acre lot feel even bigger. My grass on the other hand doesn't care for all the salt that lands on the edge or the idiots that can't make the turn and leave tire marks on my corner. 20 more years of buying 5 bags of top soil and $30 bags of seeds will get old, really quickly.
Anyway, we watered everything and then got ready to head out.
We arrived at the parking lot at Midway airport that looked a bit shady but I had a coupon and at $9 a day we couldn't beat it.
We slowly made our way through security just as Mr. D started to get antsy.
We had a bite to eat and as we were slowly heading towards our gate when we heard our names over the speakers. To sum it up they said we needed to get our butts by the gate because unlike O'Hare this plane was not only on time but early. The plane was practically empty, which made for a nice 2.5 hour flight. D did wonderful. He watched movies and behaved.

Our rental car took a bit longer than expected because the shuttle didn't take off and a bunch of people decided to stick around FL in hopes that it would take off in a day or so. Ya!!! It still hasn't.
We arrived at our hotel (courtesy of my great in-law's time share) and walked into a spacious one bedroom condo. I unpacked and we all passed out, together on a king size bed. :)
Sunday morning, we had reservations at 11am at Chef Mickey's. It was great food, wonderful atmosphere and a crazy bill that was worth it all.
D was not a fan of Minnie at first, but he warmed up. He knows how to play hard to get. Finally, he gave her a kiss.Grandma and D had cupcakes for their birthdays. One happy family. After our huge meal we decided to let the calories sit on our hips at the pool.
I don't remember what we did later but I think we went to Target and stocked up on some water, snacks and frozen pizza.
Monday morning we headed out to Hollywood Studios, but not before we had a complimentary breakfast with a sales guy that was trying to get my in-laws to purchase another time share. They are pros at saying NO, because really, they were only interested in discounted tickets to the parks and a free meal for the family. We waited comfortably in our room when they were haggled for over an hour.
After bringing in 2 other Sr. sales guys they realized they had no chance of a sale.
Finally, we were off to the park. D did great. We enjoyed the Little Mermaid show and Disney Jr. Live on Stage (featured one of D's favorite shows, Little Einsteins) along with other things such as:
A parade,
more pictures
Star Wars stuff
We were pooped by the end of the night but we planned the next day to be filled with sunshine and plenty of water. The water park was next.
D was up bright and early, doing what he does best...playing with cars.
Day 3 and 4 coming up.

Back home!

We're heading back home tomorrow morning!
Full recap of our vacation coming.
We had a wonderful week, full of memories and some relaxing time BUT we can't wait to get home, especially Daniel. He has mentioned a few times, "We go back home and pick up mommy's car at airport". When asked what he misses the most, the answer doesn't surprise us, "Grandma's Celica". How could I forget to pack one of 100 cars that he owns. HA~
