14 months!

Today Daniel turned 14 months! Amazing how time really flies.

A list of highlights of what D is up to these days:

1. Walks like a madman

2. Plays really well by himself with his toys

3. Loves the TV buttons and must love time out since that is where he ends up after he pushes the buttons.

4. Loves to climb on everything, sofa, toys, everything!

5. Gives the best kisses, although the best ones are for daddy

6. Shares his cup and paci with mommy

7. Currently has a black eye from running into the living room table

8. Loves touching everyone's hair

9. Laughs when you smell his feet and say "phewwww"

10. Loves being outside, stands at the top of the stairs stumping his feet to go outside every morning

11. LOVES Ralph's World videos. He's going to his first concert on June 19th to see...who else Ralph's World

12. He could eat tubs of yogurt

13. At about 7:40pm he gets so delirious that he runs around the kitchen and is so happy but within 5 minutes of that he can't stand up straight

14. He loves rolling the ball back and forth with someone, he tries to dribble the ball by slapping it

15. He can put most of the shapes into their respective holes all by himself

16. He loves the park and the young ladies that visit it

17. He is obsessed with our family room fan

18. He is not liking his high chair lately and is climbing out of it

19. He loves juice and since mommy doesn't give him much when he does have it he will sit there sipping it until it's gone

20. Loves his puffs aka cheerios

21. Looks best in blue colors

22. Still doesn't "talk" which is driving mommy nuts

23. Has a very laid back personality up until he wants something bad

24. Loves watching bugs including the aunts that have infested our back yard

25. Goes by D, chicken little, snuggle butt, peanut and wiggle worm

26. Loves the 8 silly monkeys book and slaps the person reading the book on the head on each page when monkey falls down and bumps his head

He's a miracle sent from above and every morning and night I am thankful for a healthy, happy and beautiful baby

Oh that canine tooth I was telling you about, they are actually MOLARS! Why is my baby growing up so fast?!

Here is a pic from my cell phone as I was rushing out the door for work this morning. Can you tell he has my lipstick on his upper lip? hehehe

Family fun

This weekend we were able to spend time as a family. We enjoyed trips to various stores, including Toys R Us, it's nice to let your toddler run wild at a toy store and you don't have to clean up at all. We enjoyed ice cream at Oberweis and a nice stroll around a beautiful pond where older ladies admired our walking toddler. It's really sweet to see 85+ little ladies approach D and admire him. I'm sure they have seen generations of babies take their first steps. I hope one day Ryan and I can sit and watch our great grandchildren toddle around us as we try to find our teeth.
The rest of the weekend was spent with numerous walks to the park where D admired 2 ladies, ages 5 and 7. He was smitten with them and followed them around like a puppy dog. It was pathetic.
Our daily walks are always in Daniel's "pimp mobile". This thing is so loud you can hear us coming a mile away. You can't see in this picture but usually he will have one hand on the steering wheel while leaning back.
It was nice to spend time as a family but this morning we woke up to the real world. It was nice while it lasted.

Another first

Today marked another first for Daniel, his first hair cut. :(
His hair has been getting out of control little by little and finally started to look like a rats nest in the back. With the weather getting warmer and parties planned we need him to look like we care about his appearance.
For the past 5 months or so I have lost battles every morning to his golden/reddish, straight as an arrow, alfalfa on top hair. The morning ritual consisted of wetting his hair, brushing and then putting lotion (yes baby lotion) in his hair and finishing it off with more combing. Within 10 minutes of this dreaded ritual his hair would be sticking up. We have many fun pictures of this but now that he's 1 it's time to get serious.
This morning we went for our appt with a video camera and photo camera swung across our shoulders ready to conquer crying and sweating (and that was just me). I had specific instructions to leave it a little longer in the front and back, so basically a tiny trim would do. I have had fears of him looking drastically different so I wasn't looking forward to this day much at all.
The experience was great. Daniel was totally preoccupied with the steering wheel of the car and barely noticed anything was being done to him. He does look different, slightly older, wiser and boyish like but I guess every mom goes through this. We were very proud of him.

P.S. A second canine tooth has broken through! Another bad night!

Nasty Bug!

Last night was a pretty miserable night for the Marron clan. With me hovered over the toilet bowl and Daniel waking up because of his teeth it was a lot to handle. We survived and I'm hopeful tonight will be better.

Tomorrow Daniel has an appt for his first hair cut. Don't you think he needs it?

Another chopper aka tooth!

After a few sleepless nights, temper tantrums and overall crabbiness we figured out why D has been under the weather.
He got another tooth on the top left side.
I do believe it's the canine tooth which is a little out of order of the typical sequence teeth should come in but whatever.
A little Tylenol at night has given me an extra hour of sleep, a crying baby at 4am isn't that bad, right?
Of course we do realize the one on the other side should start coming out soon and then the bottom ones will try to catch up as well. When does it end?
Here is a diagram for you folks to understand the order baby teeth typically come in. Daniel and typical can never be used in the same sentence, I've learned that a long time ago. Pray for my sanity during this time.

Summer fun

This summer we have 2 vacations planned. First, we are going to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic June 30th through July 7th, then end of August we are going to Lake Geneva for a few days. Yes, both trips are planned with a 1 year old tagging along.
I have come to realize it is not as exciting shopping for myself, a grown man and a toddler all at the same time. 10 years ago the only thing I had to care about was myself, bringing enough bikinis and a bottle of baby oil to fry myself in the hot sun. This time around my list of to-do's (packing list) is out of control. Both the men in my life need at least 3 pairs of swim trunks not to mention D man needs the cool shirts that have UPF (or something like that) among other "just in case" products.
Daniel has a pile of the "just in case" clothes already piling up.

Our wallets are getting thinner by the minute.

A trip to Marshall's today also confirmed for me that I will never look the same in a bikini ever again (sigh). I guess these are good problems to have since there are many people out there that don't have jobs and a vacation is the least of their worries. I'm very thankful that we have a chance to get away. I will cherish every trip to the store for all the items on my list and maybe complain a little.

Part of the cool crowd

I did it! I am now part of the blogger cool crowd. Do I have enough time to do this? Of course not but I'll do my best to capture the happenings of our family.

I'm very rusty at this so I'll be practicing with images, links, etc.

Come back and read all about it, ya hear!

Many of you have seen Daniel sporting his favorite team attire but I thought I would post my Cubs Fan as a celebration of our blog.
